<p>For many people search engines like Google, Yahoo, Altavista, All the Web and MSN are primary routes via which visitors find their web sites. <p>When your site is competing for visitors with other related sites it&#8217;s important to know how you can go about ensuring that your site appears high up in the search listings. The nearer the top of the listings your site is the more likely it is to be visited by someone interested in that area.</p>
<p>Each Search Engine has it&#8217;s differences in terms of the calculations and methods it uses to rank sites &#8211; and most of them are very secretive about exactly what methods they use to stop them being exploited. Using Google as the main example here are some information that might help your site feature higher up in the listings:</p>
<p>Google uses “ PageRank”to rank sites. When another important site links to your site it is effectively casting a vote for your site and carries more weight than an unknown site. Google uses a sophisticated text matching process to find sites that queries. It isn&#8217;t just looking at the frequency with which a word appears on the page &#8211; it looks for at all aspects of the page&#8217;s content including things like headings, page title, link wording (anchor text) and beyond that the relevance of content on pages that link into your site.</p>
<p>So to achieve the maximum success your web site&#8217;s linking need to improve and the page content needs to be sharpen up so that the site can get higher importance and greater definition. If you get other sites to link to your site then it&#8217;s rank in search engine listings will get better &#8211; and if those sites are prestigious sites it will be even better still.</p>
<p>Collecting these links from other sites can be hard but you can make it a lot easier by making your site worth linking to. By having good authoritative content articles on your site, that are submitted to article directories, you will get the links. Always go for quality of <strong>reciprocal linking</strong> over quantity. A bit later on articles&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Keyword Phrases</strong> must be representative of both the site content and of what phrases an individual might use to search for your site. Further, your site must be search engine friendly, meaning if you are using any types of things on your site like forms, JavaScript links and menus and areas done in Flash, then make sure that there are also well labelled html alternatives.</p>
<p>Your Internal text links (anchor text) must be descriptive of what you will be getting when you click. The same rule applies to the alt text you put on images &#8211; make it descriptive and relevant, search engines do look at it. It is important to use your keywords in your links if you can.</p>
<p>One major thing you can do to improve your ranking is have good relevant copy on your pages. If your pages use your keywords phrases in a relevant and meaningful way then the search engines will recognise that as being better than a person that fills a page with keywords. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s also important, as mentioned earlier, that your main copy is not hidden within something that the search engines can&#8217;t scan, like for example a flash video.</p>

<p>Pay per click (PPC) is an advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content websites/blogs, where advertisers only pay when a user actually clicks on an ad to visit the advertiser&#8217;s website. Advertisers bid on keywords they predict their target market will use as search terms when they are looking for a product or service.</p>
<p>When a user types a keyword query matching the advertiser&#8217;s keyword list, or views a page with relevant content, the advertiser&#8217;s ad may be shown. These ads are called a &#8220;Sponsored link&#8221; or &#8220;sponsored ads&#8221; and appear next to or above the &#8220;natural&#8221; or organic results on search engine results pages, or anywhere a web master/blogger chooses on a content page.</p>
<p>PPC engines can be categorized into two major categories &#8220;Keyword&#8221; or sponsored match and &#8220;Content Match&#8221;. Sponsored match displays your listing on the search engine itself whereas content match features ads on publisher sites and in newsletters and emails.</p>
<p>When a user searches for a particular word or phrase, the list of advertiser links appears in order of the amount bid. Keywords, also referred to as search terms, are the very heart of pay per click advertising. Businesses buy advertising on specific search phrases, and are then charged each time a person clicks through to their website.</p>

<p>          Contact a local dating agency. Offer them a substantial discount on tooth whitening, for the<br />
          week  before Valentine&#8217;s Day, for their members on their mailing list. It is an additional<br />
          benefit for their members, but can bring hundreds of clients through  your door in a short<br />
          period of time. Basically, you phone or write to the agency in your area. </p>
<p>          Tell them that you have a way to add value to their clients. You offer to do a special on<br />
          whitening, orthodontics, a cosmetic evaluation, or some other attractive offer for the clients.<br />
          The dating agency can send out their “Dentist&#8221;promotion with their monthly statements, in an<br />
          email, or dating service newsletter. </p>
<p>          Offering valuable savings to their service, clients distinguishes their service from  their<br />
          competitors. This can be an easy-to-do marketing campaign that can result in several hundred<br />
          new patients coming to your practice in the next few months.</p>
<p>         With the jeweller. The mark up on jewellery is at least 100% or more. If  you can get a<br />
          jeweller friend  to promise a 20% discount and a 50% share in profits, for anniversaries  and<br />
          periods like Christmas, when people  traditionally buy jewellery, this is the scenario:</p>
<p>          If you have a patient mailing list of 15,000 and you endorse this jeweller by informing your<br />
          list of this discount you have arranged in appreciation of their loyal support and allow them to<br />
          print a voucher or discount form on-line.  </p>
<p>          Normally  direct mailing lists convert by 1-2%. Endorsed lists at least<br />
          10-15%.Say,theoretically on 5% respond and buy jewellery worth £80 after the 20%<br />
          discount, you gain the following:  </p>
<p>                                                                  £100-20=£80<br />
                                                                  £30/2 profit x 750=£11,250 for one email!</p>
<p>          The jeweller gain increase in sales and gain new clients for his own list! Always be on the<br />
          lookout for opportunities to treat your mailing list! The jeweller can also endorse you for<br />
          cosmetic treatments.</p>
<p>The photographer scenario: This JV can give you a year&#8217;s constant flow of new patients as you are both in the business of creating smiles. Offer a free family portrait sitting for every patient that gets their teeth whitened. Find an open minded photographer that wants more clients or an amateur that can seize upon a quick few thousand pounds for two sittings of work.<br />
It may even launch the photographer&#8217;s career and if that&#8217;s the case, negotiate the photo costs as it is well known that people will buy more than the family portrait.</p>
<p>Send this promotion out early and allow your patients to tell or introduce a friend on this deal and remind them to arrange for appointments prior to the scheduled sitting, to have anything sorted out with their smile, that they dislike. Put a fixed value to this gift of a family portrait. Run a promotion on your whitening procedures during this time and introduce this service to your patients and their friends.</p>
<p>Arrange an area, preferably your office&#8217;s waiting room or go with the photographers&#8217; preferred environment. Two sessions will be enough to make numerous contacts with existing patients and prospective patients. There will be telephone contact, personal contact with reception and follow up contact when proofs or orders are ready. Remember to make this an annual event.</p>
