http://www.dental-marketing-wizard.com/goldmineSo, private practice owners are grinning from ear to ear. They have already made the move privately and can probably just ignore any future changes. Right? How dead wrong! Ignore this to your own peril!
Dentistry is changing worldwide, following trends like changing technology, changing marketplace, changing clients and boundaries. All of a sudden you have a customer that wants to spend money to look younger and better while on the move.
This customer does not mind receiving text messages or emails regarding their appointments, does not mind to receive wider health and beauty services such as anti-wrinkle treatment, hypnotherapy and acupuncture, and more important does not mind where in the world its provided, because this customer does not mind having a short break while acquiring the treatment at lower costs. So more dental practices are facing these threats…or opportunities if they are tuned in!
The changes will have an adverse effect on all practices! Since the Government introduced its new NHS contract in April 2006, more than 2000 practices have gone private. With the end of the three-year guaranteed period rapidly approaching, many NHS practices are now considering moving private and will do so soon, or shortly after April 2011 when reality strikes. And these effects are due to local changes only…

http://www.dental-marketing-wizard.com/goldmineDentistry in the United Kingdom is in the process of phenomenal change and come April 2011 guaranteed funding for NHS practices will disappear. The initial spectre of the end of ring-fencing in 2009 has been a great cause of anxiety, but a low-key announcement, on an unrelated press release, of a two year extension, preceded the budget. Traditionally the dental profession has been guided and directed significantly by the National Health Service, but this profession is now undergoing a long overdue transition to the private sector.
So existing NHS practices will need to have a plan in place or base their future income on hope. Hope there will be more money; hope things will improve, and hope their practices will survive. Is this really the scientific way to approach a business? Do I need to answer this? There are even predictions of terminating limited contracts and downward pressure on UDA values. A daunting period is lying ahead.
